The Society for the Performing Arts is the largest nonprofit presenting organization of its kind in the entire Southwest. Each year SPA presents internationally acclaimed artists from the entire performing arts spectrum, traditional to avant-garde alike, from large orchestras and dance companies to recitalists and solo performers, for an entire season of events.

Deana Sellens, Founder and Executive Director of Spay/Houston

Deana SellensDeana Sellens is the Executive Director for Spay/Houston and the Director of Fundraising for Adopt A Cat. Adopt A Cat is a NO KILL cat shelter/sanctuary serving the Greater Houston Area. Spay/Houston is a venture of Adopt A Cat. Deana has been a volunteer in animal rescue for 7 years. She began as a full time employee for Spay/Houston on August 1, 2009. Deana’s rescue experience includes fostering cats and dogs, neo-natal care, website development, fundraising, marketing, trap/neuter/return and public relations. She also sits on the Steering Committee for Spay/Texas and is the webmaster for Clipped Ear Cat Sanctuary.

Ruth Landauer, Director of Volunteers: Houston Hospice

Ruth LandauerRuth Landauer is the Director of Volunteers at Houston Hospice. In her 24 plus years in hospice, Ruth has helped train more than two thousand volunteers. In addition, she has been actively involved with educating the community about end of life care. A well known speaker, she has spoken at the state level and for many organizations locally. She is the recipient of awards from The Texas/New Mexico Hospice Organization and the Texas Partnership for End of Life Care. www.houstonhospice.org

 

In addition to her work with hospice, Ruth is an artist and the mother of member, Caryn Landauer.

He has over 25 years of executive business experience leading, managing, building, and growing businesses. At Compaq and Hewlett-Packard he was a division manager responsible for revenues of up to $1.5B and up to 300 employees. His major areas of expertise include business development, marketing and general management for businesses ranging from startups to very mature operations.

 

Rusty is an adjunct professor in the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Alabama and a master’s of business administration in marketing from the University of Houston.
